Sage ginger winter cocktail

Look at that photo.   I think Restoration Hardware should hire me.

Anywho, this is the champagne cocktail that I whipped up for a friend’s New Years Eve fiesta.  I made a small batch, since it was an experiment, but will estimate the proportions to the best of my ability so that other peeps can recreate it.

Ingredients

  • 6 leaves fresh sage
  • 4 generous slices fresh ginger
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Champagne

Instructions

Well, I made this thing kind of on the fly at a friend’s house, so here goes.

Bring your agua to a boil, then stir in the sugar, stirring until it dissolves.  Turn it down to a simmer, and add your ginger slices and sage leaves (I tore them up so they could release more flava into the syrup).  Let it simmer about 1o minutes, and then let it cool completely.

Put about a tablespoon into a champagne flute, and top the rest with what else?  Champagne.
