This is what will happen to your brunch guests when you whip up this Special Juice, which came to me by way of the ever charming Lottie + Doof.
Even if you’re not a fan of grapefruit juice, the ginger and lime may just convert you.

It’s a simple preparation (if you don’t count the juicing of the grapefruits and limes), which, added to your favorite bubbly for a twist on the classic mimosa, was a huge hit for my brunch guests the one time I bothered to make it.
Next time, I might let Trader Joe juice the grapefruits for me.
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
- 2 ruby red grapefruits (regular grapefruits are fine, too)
- 2 limes
In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar and ginger. Bring to simmer and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
Juice the grapefruits and limes into a small pitcher. Strain the ginger syrup into the pitcher and stir well to combine. Chill until cold. Stir again before serving.
